Headed out just past the MB border to a cabin for Christmas, and wondering if there's anywhere nearby (30-60 minute drive) that's worthwhile for trout? Or good lakes worth stopping by for other species along hwy 1?

If you are talking about Lake Trout you will have to wait until January 1st as season is closed from September 30th to January 1st in Zone 5.

West Hawk Lake. I usually go end of February to as close to ice out in April.
