I bought the $200 inflatable raft from Costco along with a trolling motor and battery but would be just as content to shore fish. We’re in steep rock for 4 nights, not looking to set the world on fire but would be great to catch a few fish from shore or near shore in the raft either in steep rock park or a short drive to Fairford River- any info or suggestions are appreciated!

Be careful around Fairford Dam, heard some tragic stories of drownings from both shore and boats flipping over in strong currents!
Use to have great Walleye fishing there, I think now it's mostly Drums.

Drove over the bridge on Fairford 3 weeks ago, and there is no way you were getting a boat in there, nevermind a Costco raft. Way, way further down, maybe, but the speed the water was flowing at, I would not even think about Fairford.

PS - has anyone tried in the steep rock quarry? I saw a ton of minnows there last year - considering taking the raft into the water there but unsure if the fish population is limited to bait….

Last update - went to the quarry today - caught one decent perch dragging minnows along bottom - lots of weeds to snag up on. A friend heard there are giant albino carp in the quarry but I found no signs of them.
