Depends on the species and time of year.
Cats for instance early spring the morning bite is hot, Summer is the night bight, Fall is mid day.
Sturgeon Mid day is pretty much active for them when they are in.
Walleye - Not sure not an expert.
and on and on. This actually could turn into a pretty long thread.

I haven't done a whole lot of fishing in my life but it seems the times I have, the evening's have been slightly more productive.

The best bites are associated with the sun and moon rises and sets. however as ty said, species, season, location, ect ect ect pretty broad question.....
