First post as a new member. Heading for God's Lake in mid September for Lake Trout. This is totally new to me so have a few questions for the experts on here. Will be using spinning gear, so what strength rod, braided fire wire line # test? Any recommendations for lures (weight and colors) would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from some members on this subject. Thanks in advance for all who respond.

You are in for a treat for sure!

Rod: 6.6-7 ft med to med heavy.

Line: 50 lbs braid with 20 lbs florocarben for a lead.

Lures: BIG! Largest tube and grub baits you can get. Berkeley has good ones. White to a pinkish colour I find the best. Ounce to ounce and a half jigs with them.

Bring a couple large lipless rattle baits as well.

Check with your outfitter as to water temps at that time of the year. If they are approaching 50 f the trout will be shallower and you might get them on deep diving cranks.

Good luck and tight lines!
