Forbes is a good bet but likely inaccesible until we get a good cold snap. Im not sure I would risk it yet but might be doable... anyone been there yet? Let me know if you are going and I can give you some tips to put you on fish. George is also good but if you are there anyway, I would continue onto Forbes. Let me know, grew up in the area and can steer a fellow member. Stay on the trails as Geoge and Forbes can be pretty slushy and ruin a good day with cold, wet feet.

Thanks for so info, not sure what I will do. I am fishing with a couple older guys and this might turn out to be too much of an adventure for them to get out there? and its a bit of a long drive from where we might stay over at the sunset casino near lake winnipeg. Are there anyplaces to stay out by Pointe Du Bois? we may end up fishing lakers over near Kenora instead, thats our normal area (Silver Lake) for the past 20+ years.

Nowhere real close... I think eaglesnest and sawmill bay both close for the winter but worth a call. George lake outfitters is also a good guy to call, he may be able to get you up and back and would know the best accomadations. worth the trip if you can make it.

Whiteshell, just before the Ontario border, #1 HWY East ;)

Ok I can see them clearly now, for High lake is it better on MB side or Ont. side? actually I'll have both lic. so I could try either.

Also any good things to say about West Hawk Lake? The guys at the ministry in Lac du Bonnet, MB said it was a decent trout lake too.

Any areas better? east, west or north south shores? or is it normal trout fishing ie.. fish a variety of depths off points, islands etc.. with white tube jigs? until I find some?

If you venture out to the Whiteshell area take Craigs' advice on which lake/s to fish. The man has hands on experience successfully fishing all of them
