I will be staying at the narrows mid december and wonder if on a normal year there would be enough ice to safely access the lake at that time of year. With the current in that area I have serious doubts but being I'm not from the area and have never fished I would reach out to someone who has. Thanks in advance!

Norrows Ice

The narrows my friend is about the most unpredictable place I know for good ice. Evan at the end of winter. Shore ice may be good but in the center no ice and this can change over night, especially in the earlier part of the winter. The ice changes from day to day and is not very predictable south of, around the bridge north of the bridge to and around the old narrows. The ice in the bays may look OK but could move out on you The locals themselves stay clear in the early part of the winter. Pay heed. Life is too short as it is.
