When do the Goldeye typically start running in the Red River, in particular in the Selkirk/Lockport area?

I haven't fished the Red yet this year but typically, Goldeye are in the river year round. Spring, Summer and Fall are all good times to catch them. Near the surface using bobbers, small hooks and crawlers, using little to no weight is always the best method. They are not normally hard to catch but can sometimes be harder to find. The edges of current and eddies are good spots. If you don't catch after a couple drifts, move on until you find them. Goldeye in the Red is not like the Winnipeg River, where the Goldeye/ Mooneye run occurs in late Summer.

You can even catch them at Lockport at night. Cast out small spinners or float a bobber setup near the gates. Don't go into the pelican area though.
