I decided to go ice fishing this first of January with my wife and daughter.
We went for a 50 minutes drive from Winnipeg in the afternoon, my choice was Selkirk Park because I have a sedan and easy access.
I drilled 3 holes and put the shack for fun, we had a good time pulling 5 small walleyes (12-14') and one keeper. My daughter almost landed a big one around 3:30pm. Then I got a hit by a 37'1/2, I can't lie so shy from a master, 10 minutes before our take off time at 3:50pm.
We take few pictures and I put this beautiful fish back in the water.
Very nice day to start the season, Happy New Year!

27.5"... lol... I read that and my eyes were popping out. Then I realized you meant 27.5 (not 37.5) when you said just a 0.5" shy of a master.

How much ice was there if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve never ice fished that part of the red yet. Would you just access it by the boat launch right by the RV campgrounds?
