Hey All!

Just curious what people's favourite type of bass to target is? ... Also preferred tactics or style of fishin for em? ...why?

I personally love white bass! Fishing creeks and small rivers, tossing small in-line spinners on a light action rod. When I locate a hungry school it's Awsome. They can be an aggressive little fish that hit hard and dart frantically In all directions!

Look forward to any and all input!

I must say, cranking white bass is my favourite. I got my specialist out of a muddy little creek, 17 1/4" my biggest. Once you find them, it se me like you can't cast without catching one.

I've seen lots of mention of white bass lately, might have to give that a try if things work out in my holidays. Hoping to nail a few new species.....already planning on chasing cats and sturgeon so what's another to add to the list. As long as we don't go skunking ourselves too many consecutive days.

Only caught smallmouth so far and enjoyed that, planning on trying for largies at Boundary this summer.

I'm pretty new to large mouth, but am going to try to hook up with more this summer, either @ Reynolds or LOTW and a few other Ontario lakes I frequent (lac lu and Louise lake)

Let's talk lures then....what's your go to?

I don't bass fish often or know too much about it, but I use lightweight spoons, Mepps spinners and smallish jigs with plastic twister tails, minnows or leeches.

Basically anything that won't sink too far or too fast during retrieve to avoid the rocks I'm fishing on/over.

I caught this Rock Bass on the weekend with a somewhat big lipless crank bait while targeting Walleye. So I guess I'll add those to my bass lure list too!

Rock bass (duh!) and white bass are my favorites. I've only recently gotten into smallmouth bass so can't comment much on them.

Btw, robvee i think I know where you caught that. ;)

My go to is almost always #2 or #3 blue fox or mepps for rock and silver. and for smallies (and large with little luck) a #4 or #5 of the same, and I started using some fly materials tied on the treble to give it a little more life (i know some come like that already but it's cheaper and I can be more creative when I tie my own)

Have really been enjoying fishing for small mouth bass in my area. Started this past summer and I am addicted now.

had very good results in mid to late season last year with wacky rigged Senko worms. This season so far I have had ok results using suspended jerk baits...really have to beat the pike off them though. I picked up two rapala jerk baits a few weeks ago and they have been resulting in a lot of strikes bass and pike but I think I will order a small collection of jerk baits from bass pro shops. heck I can get four and a bag of replacement trebles with exchange for the cost of two up here LOL.
