I've heard a few rumours of a Bass Pro outlet comming to Winnipeg.. Specifically in the new outlet development by Assiniboia downs...
Has anyone else heard this?

Interesting the comment on BPS v. Cabelas. I find for Canadian fishing Cabelas retail outlets are vastly superior to BPS, at least the three BPS I've been to in the USA. Basically the BPS that I've been to don't carry the larger sizes of lures needed, or have a very limited color selection. Last BPS I went to (Midwest USA) didn't even have any Rapala Husky Jerks in size 13 and only had size 18 original floaters in silver. And the spoon selection was dismal. And no lake trout jigs.

I find Bass Pro Shops to be just that, "BASS" Pro Shops, and by the way, we'll carry some other stuff.

But, admitedly, limited data set.

Even the Cabelas in Reno Nevada has a great selection of Pike / Lake Trout lures. And there aren't any pike with 500 miles of Reno. At least not legal pike...

But maybe it's as simple as Cableas doing less stock customization based on location than BPS and near and above the border they're fine.

All I know is, there are awesome Bass Pro Shops (in Niagara...best tackle, boating, fishing store I've ever been to) ...and there are super lame ones---like BPS Vegas. Bass Pro Vegas is our Cabelas with some vegas souvenirs....super lame. Waste of time and cab fare. IMO anyway

I spent 2.5 hrs in BPS Niagara and it wasnt enough. Toronto/Great lakes region has pretty much every awesome species of freshwater fish close by, so the selection on tackle for each species is incredible. TONS of brands you don't see around PickerelPeg

I should add tho- I'm not a hunter, so 90% of cabelas and bps vegas was useless to me. Hunters prob love cabelas...? I dunno
