Hey all so I had made mention in a thread awhile back about bait fish species and the difference it made, I asked if any one knew where to purchase live shinners (anybody know? Cause I still don't) well today I came across this great vid on angling buzzz

Yes, When we are out fishing Ontario we quite often end up with a "mix bag" lol which I don't mind, I usually scope out a few diffrent type to try, but I have found that if there are some nice colour full lil dace, that matching your jig colour to the colour(ish) of their stripe can be great, but maybe just coincidence.

I'll never forget walking into a bait shop in Bemidji MN. They had 8-10 different kinds of minnow in all different sizes. It was amazing!


  • Red Tails - sold by the dozen, half dozen, or by the gallon
  • Rainbows - sold by the scoop or by the gallon
  • Emerald Shiners - sold by the scoop or by the gallon
  • Spottail Shiners - sold by the scoop or by the gallon
  • Golden Shiners - sold by the scoop or by the gallon
  • Creek Chubs - sold by the dozen, half dozen, or by the gallon
  • Fat Heads - sold by the scoop or by the gallon
  • Crappies - sold by the scoop or by the gallon
  • Suckers - sold by the scoop or by the gallon

  • Heavy Northern - sold individually, by the dozen or half dozen
