I don't want to start a flame war here, just curious. How does the commercial fishing pressure compare between lakes Manitoba, Winnipeg and Winnipegosis?

That is tough to pinpoint - particularly LK Manitoba which has a lot of licenses that are not used when fishing is poor, but many are used when fishing is good. Many of the commercial fishers on that lake fish part-time, so every year is different.

Lake Winnipeg and Lake Winnipegosis have much more consistent pressure.
But the harvest pressure on these lakes changes significantly by location and by season...and target species.

The government does publish annual reports of commercial production for these lakes if that is what you are looking for. Our webpages have changed quite a bit in the past few years so I am not sure where those are located right now. It might take some digging!

Thanks for the reply! That's interesting. Lake Manitoba is a winter only fishery right? No idea there were so many variables to it

Yes - Lake Manitoba is a winter only fishery at this point.
