You can't record the info necessary when retaining a Walleye over 70cm on the back of the photo of your licence on your phone. I guess that's the reason why.

Makes sense but only if you do keep it. If you would never keep it, itís the same as the hard copy.

I don't know how many people keep big fish or even carry a pen on them with the intention of signing the back of the license. Will be interesting to see how they implement the signing after the licenses go digital.

Red River from the Canada/US border to Lake Winnipeg and all
tributaries between Lockport Dam and Lake Winnipeg - anglers may
retain only 1 walleye longer than 70 cm per year. Licence holders who
catch and retain one of these fish must immediately record the date
on the back of their licence. The walleye/sauger limit is 4

so if i read this correctly , if your not fishing this particular area, where a signature is needed, why do you need a paper license, It's states on the red from the border to the lake , if you keep one over 70cm you must sign, anywhere else is it needed??????????????
if not therefore a copy should do??????????????proof

........how do they know you have never fished the area and should have filled out the back of the licence even if you are not stopped in that designated area at that specific moment.

Hey, I don't make the rules, I just read and understand them.......it's pretty clear, need the original.
