Question Drill Press Despair. Needing a part

Have a Sears Craftsman benchtop drill press. Cannot get parts from Sears in Canada or the States as itís 15+ yrs old. Iíve somehow managed to lose the nut that secures the pulley wheel that attaches to the front spindle. I tried Adams Supply today and they donít have the nut size I require nor can they order any in. Itís an M18 1.5 pitch LH thread. Iím really not wanting to discard it as it is still in great shape. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks muchly.

Order a tap and make your own, or go to a machine shop, they may have a tap the size.

Right size drill hole, right tap, and some square stock, very doable.

Need an M12 or M14 nut, drill it out with a 16.5 mm drill bit, then use a M18 1.5 pitch LH thread tap. Big pain for just for one nut, but that's what a machine shop would do.
Being left handed you will find limited stock, might get lucky. I've ordered specialty left hand taps before, usually not expensive, just make sure you use good tapping oil when doing the job. Machine shop will cost you 10 X the cost of the tap. You will only need the middle tap to do a nut, good luck.
