Default Humminbird Cable Pin

Hey Everyone, purchased a used Humminbird 788. Tried it out today and didn't work worth a darn. Fires up good, display, GPS, etc works, sonar is buggered. Tells me I'm in 90 feet of water when I am in 8. Not sure if I found the problem but there does appear to be a broken pin on the cable. The only diagram I found indicates that is the temperature sensor though. Attached is a picture of the transducer cable end that should have 5 pins. It has 4 and one broken near at the bottom of the plug. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? How? Any shop in Winnipeg capable of fixing it or diagnosing it? I'd really rather not buy a new transducer as they are a pile of $$. I'm pretty handy but not sure where to start with this one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is a diagram of how the pins should be (I think):

Here is picture of my cable (note the broken pin):

How can I trouble shoot things? Advice?

Its worth noting that I was fishing in a shallow river (between 5 and 8 feet). I've since read that in shallow water I should set the surface clutter higher in shallow water. I'll give it a try tomorrow if the weather clears.

Unfortunately those cannot be properly repaired and a new transducer would be the only answer. I have heard of folks splicing another end onto the cable but the signal is never the same, seems once you compromise the shielding interference becomes an issue. Surface clutter settings only eliminated the clutter/noise that is being displayed on the sonar return shown on the head unit, it has nothing to do with the unit reading proper depth. What model 788 is it, DI or just standard 2d sonar? I have a DI transducer here, brand new, that might help you out!

Worst case is I'll use my old Garman. No GPS but at least the locator works.

If it's a 788ci DI HD (as you pictured), the transducer with the 5 pins is the incorrect transducer for that unit.......the plug for the correct transducer (XNT 9 DI T) for that unit should have 4 pins not 5, unfortunately the 4 pin configuration in that plug in the picture has one of the necessary pins broken off. Can you post a picture of the transducer that was sold to you with the unit?

Here is what the transducer should look like as well as the pin configuration.
