Default Chainsaw use at provincial campgrounds?

I was camping the past long week-end with my family at black lake campground, and had brought some extra wood i had from the city. Well i was cutting up a few of the longer pcs, and was told by the park attended i couldnt run it? I thought the regs say you can run a chainsaw between 9am and 11pm? And you cant take debris from the bush or cut down trees and so on. Well i wasnt doing any of that.....Im sure i read the regs right...

Never thought the regs ever specifically referred to a chain saw, I know they specifically mention generators, but the regs do state no excessive noise at any time, that probably covers chainsaws. But on the otherhand they say that quiet time is 11-9 and loud equipment including chainsaws is prohibited during that time which tome means it could be used outside of those times..........confusing to say the least.

But you're not supposed to bring outside wood usually though. Campgrounds usually supply wood to prevent spreading of diseases.

I think it pretty obnoxious to be using a chainsaw in a campsite.

we bought a ion 40 volt from CT. two weeks ago, works great, can't hear it run, would never go back to gas.
it might be what you need.

The regs specifically say chainsaws, radio's, and generators can not be sued during quite time. 11pm to 9 am. I was using it at 4 in the afternoon, and also says no transporting "out of province" fire wood. Or no transporting elm or ash firewood. I was doing none of that, and most campgrounds don't supply firewood. You have the buy it for around 10$ a bag at lodge stores near by. Not going to happen! Black lake is the only campground that I know of that does have a firewood lot. But i don't want to arrgue here, read if you don't believe me. It just pissed me off that they tell me I can't run my chainsaw at 4 in the afternoon, but can't tell some loud mouths partying it up at midnight to shutup!

FishHunter, you should send the question to the NRO head office and see what their response is. I wouldn't specifically say that a park attendant told you that it was not permitted and that you want them to set the record straight, but rather an open-ended question ("The regulations say "...." so can I take my chainsaw with me to use during the day hours?). If you get a response, please post back and let us know what they say.

I would respectfully agree with sleb that using a chainsaw in a campground is a bit obnoxious.

I also agree with FisherHunter that being forced to purchase firewood is total horseshit.

I also agree with MikeBee that this is why I don't camp in Manitoba where prov parks have 28 pages of hand-holding rules making them the no-fun zone.

NW Ontario is where it's at....and I'm not talking rushing river where it's pretty much the same, if not worse.
