There is also a nice big camping spot right at the elbow on your right (not the island) as you go upstream. 3 pretty good options on elbow...I would shoot for the island spot right just past the elbow if bears have been a problem though !

Been up to Elbow about ten times now. My only suggestion is to get out early. It is a popular spot and only getting busier. I've been on my way back from Snowshoe and every site on Elbow was occupied. Some people spend a night at Tulibi campground to get a jump start rather than driving from the Peg. Nothing worse than thinking you are at your destination than realizing you have to travel another 5 km to find a camp spot. Parkies are always out on weekends (pretty sure they have secret quad trails to the lakes with a boat cache) and will give you a nice ticket if you aren't in a designated site. The fine is peanuts compared to the time and effort of setting up your base camp and having to start over kms away.

PS. The latest edition of Explore Magazine lists Tulibi and Elbow as one of the top 25 campsites in Canada... could be even busier this year.

Thanks for the heads up, we're doing Elbow as a side trip to camping at Tulabi falls. Since we all booked off the week we're gonna hit up Elbow during the work week to hopefully get away from the hordes of canoeists.
Boat caches and quad trails, pretty genius way to keep tabs on campers since a lot of folks propably figure they're "off the grid" and can do whatever they please out there

You are right about the boat cache on Elbow. I believe they ride quads in from Davidson (?) or somewhere around there.

There was a quad trail trail that went into the camp on Elbow. It is a great place but now that it's in the top 25 camp sites it's never going to be the same.

I'll be up there Thursday on my way to McGregor and Snowshoe. If you see a guy in a red kayak paddling through... say hi!

It's still a two portage lake...I wouldn't worry too much about it.
