Default Camping in 2020

So, I am assuming at this point that campgrounds will not be open for May 7th and I would just have to hazard a guess that we will be lucky to be camping in July. I have heard some rumours that lodges in provincial parks have already been given the heads-up that parks will be completely closed.

Has anyone heard anything like this? This will suck because we seasonal camp in provincial campground and our kids are going to be devastated. I started telling them over a week ago that camping might be delayed or possibly not happen at all. I mean, if it has to happen and it will help, so be it. Its just we completely keep to ourselves while out there and if they simply closed the washrooms, we'd easily make it work... sigh.

Maybe I ought to worry about other things right now, its just the lake is the happy place like no other and we got a really good site this year.

Have not heard much in Manitoba but I belong to an RV forum which has a lot of USA members. There’s lots of campgrounds closing or restricting on site amenities down south.

I just can't imagine that the PPs will be open at any point this summer. We're only in the very beginning stages of this thing...things are going to get worse for at least the next month. I'm expecting Summer 2020 to be a write off and we might see some semblance of "normal" by September. I keep reading about how a "second wave" of the pandemic is likely, so they won't take any chances by opening up too early...

If things are delayed I would love to see the season extended - the PP campgrounds close way to early for me . We have a yurt at LOTP booked for a week in mid June targeting carp , I would hate to lose that opportunity it is my "makes the rest of the year ok" week but maybe I could chase late late fall carp as an alternative.

It was on the news that reservation service is cancelled until April 17th. I doubt that will happen the way things are going.

I wonder if provincial seasonal campers will get a refund once they cancel the season. Or I wonder if we can just put in for next season and keep the spot we selected. Just got such a good site. Sigh. Formative year for the kids - 8, 5 and 5.

It would be nice if you got a choice. Keep the payment for same site next year or refund your money.

Watched Doug Ford doing the daily coved-19 update at noon. Seems that the Kenora locals are complaining about Manitoba cottage owners coming out there to weather out this pandemic in their cottages. Ford's words, "stay at home."
