Smile Hello all, Iím new to the forum

Hello all,

Iím new to the forum and wanted to stop by, introduce Myself, and say hello.
Iím looking for some inexpensive camping and fishing. Iíve heard of a place called breezy point just north of Winnipeg where there used to be cabins. Does anybody know of this place? Any suggestions?

I also thought that I should mention that as a snowbird, I have recently returned back to Canada and have already completed My quarantine. I am itching to enjoy the nice weather weíre having here in Manitoba while adhering to the social distancing... always safety first!!!

Being down south for the winter made it rather difficult to hear Canadian news, so Iím somewhat out of the loop. This looked like the perfect forum to find what Iím looking for so Iím hoping to meet like-minded people here with lots of camping and fishing knowledge that enjoy the outdoors as much as I do.😎

Welcome!

I know Breezy Point is a good shore fishing area though it's very crowded and lots of trash. Not sure how access has been this year.

There are lots of places to camp near Winnipeg. I would recommend starting a post in the forums and ask about certain areas.

The Whiteshell area has lots of nice camping and fishing opportunities. Nutimik and Big Whiteshell have nice campgrounds. You can also rent boats out of the lodge at the north launch in Big Whiteshell.

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply Crimson Night. Well if thereís lots of trash at Breezy, thatís really sad. But then again itís due to being overcrowded and people just not caring about the environment and the outdoors. Although I am a full-time RVer, sadly I had to leave My motorhome and partner back in South Carolina since heís American. Once the borders open up Iíd like to fly back and drive My rig back to Canada for the summer and do some serious camping and fishing. But in the meantime Iím going to have to tent it for now which is perfectly fine. You stated that thereís lots of fishing and camping just outside of Winnipeg. I like to stay either north or east of the city to be close to the kids and the grandkids. Any suggestions of campgrounds that are inexpensive and close to the city that have shoreline fishing available in the close vicinity of the campground? Now that My quarantines is over Iím itching to get out there Iíll start a post in the forum and hopefully Iíll get a bite

Thanks Salty, Iím glad that My quarantine is finally over as well and that Iím safe, sound, and Covid 19 free. But we social distanced right from the start of this pandemic so I didnít feel sick at all anyway so I was very optimistic!
This site and form seems like a great place for somebody like Me that loves camping, Fishing, and the outdoors; Iím glad I found you all!
Hereís hoping that our members can indeed be of some help in order to make this summer as enjoyable as it can be... Cheers!

Oh wow Method, thank you ... These places sound amazing! I remember going somewhere in the white shell many years ago, but I donít remember where. Nonetheless, Iím definitely going to check your suggestions out in order to take the kids and grandkids camping and fishing at some point this summer. Hopefully it wonít be too busy, as Iím not sure if Iíll need a reservation or not.

Personally, loved the cabins at Hecla, but it is a 2 hour drive from Wpg. They're great if the grand kids come to visit. Whiteshell has lots to do and see outdoors.

Iíve enjoyed the whiteshell, but have never stayed at Hekla. My late husband and I drove out there once, but it was pouring rain and all we could see was what looked like a big gazebo. But 2 hours is a bit too far away from the city. Iíve been camping at Breezy point and have really enjoyed it aside from having to clean up the site before I could setup camp. The kids and grandkids have been by every day which is what I enjoy the most. I caught a huge white bass that lasted 4 meals and was super yummy! Iím back in the city now and left the site clean and ready for the next person...I wish everyone did the same.
